Where Has The Time Gone

Oh my, Christmas is almost here and i haven't posted anything. Two months ago i had a tumor removed and then 2 weeks after that my husband got hurt at work so he hasn't been working full time yet. I haven't had time to do any scrap booking pages for Christmas or make any ornaments for our tree. I always do a different theme every year but this year i just didn't have time. So out of all the ornaments i have i decided to do my bird house theme again.

I also did a tree for my mom this year, i always do birdhouse on her tree but this year i did a spun glass tree for her.

And here is another tree i did.

Here is our fireplace this year.

Well i just wanted to share our home with you for the Holiday's.

Well i was at it again today with making more pumpkins and yes this took me all day.

Yep Another New Dress Form

It was that time of year again when my husband Vince goes to his brother Dave's house to help do the St.Johns Marsh cleanup in Algonac. Kim said if I were to come out we could go shopping while the guys were cleaning the Marsh and I said that sounds good to me. Kim wanted to go to Port Huron to take me to this store called Hobby Lobby she said it had all kinds of things there so we went. OMG!!! I Love that store they have so many different things there. I went to the flowers that was the first thing they had went you walked in and all of a sudden I see fabric. I really love fabric I'm working on another one of Kim's dolls right now and I had fabric for her but she is a porcelain doll with porcelain shoes that are blue so you know I had to buy some white fabric with little blue flowers on it (maybe I'll take a picture of it so I can show you) its so pretty. So after walking around with only 3 yards of fabric and some trim in my cart I spot all the lamps they have and yep I have this thing for lamps too (hahaha). It was like everything in the store was half off but I didn't buy any lamps but the next time I go that's gonna be the first thing on my list. After the 2 or 3 rows of lamps they had I turned the corner and there they were they had so many different styles to choose from but I only bought one and here she is...

I think this makes 8 for my collection now and pretty soon I'm gonna take pictures so you can see them all. I could go on forever about that store they had some really beautiful things in there so if you ever get a chance to go to Port Huron go to Hobby Lobby you won't be sorry and I'm sure you'll walk out with a cart full like I did. I still haven't come up with a name for her yet but I'm working on it. Oh I almost forgot I used her as my post separator isn't she cute if you would like to use her as your post separator just let me know. Thanks for stopping bye and have a wonderful night.

Talent Show

Last night was Kelly Middle School Talent Show and there were 11 kids who sang just wonderful. Haley was the last one to sing and she sung The Climb. I just wanted to share this video because I'm so proud of my daughter Haley, she did such a wonderful job singing this song.

Emily Is Sewing

My daughter Emily called me this morning and she was so excited because she is almost done with her first draping project at EMU. I remember the day she called and asked me if she should take that class and I said yes I figured since she has been a stage manager for a few plays at Emu and also at East Detroit High School that maybe that class could come in handy for maybe working on costumes. Emily has been doing stage crew I want to say since she was in the 9th grade, building sets and painting sets, doing lighting and all kinds of things behind the stage and she is very good at it. In her draping class the project was to make a top that draped something like from the 20's and when she was home on spring break we when and got the fabric and I have to tell you that I picked out the ribbon and she picked out the button's and this is what is done on it so far .

How CUTE is that!!! I just love it!!! And she didn't use a pattern she had to drape everything how cool is that. Emily you did a Wonderful job on it and your dad said it is very pretty and when you come home for the summer your making me one and wait till your sister sees this she's gonna want one too.

New Frames For My Sidebar

Well today I decided to make new picture frame's for my sidebar, this is an old frame I had laying around the house so I just took a picture of it here's the before.

and here's the after.

I put little diamonds in it and I also used the hue/saturation in Photoshop elements 7 not to bad. Take a look at my post separator it's my necklace that I scan and used the hue/saturation not to bad also.

Making changes to my blog layout has been so easy!!! I found another wonderful site here Its Free Blogger XML Templates
Pocket is just wonderful!!!! I was using a third party template and some of the changes were ok and some were not so I changed to the blogger template. I have added a third column and I have taken off the edit tools, change where the date goes and added 3 columns to the blog footer. Pocket has over 40 tutorials on how to make changes to your blog and he's adding more all the time. If you have any problems with the tutorials just ask him and he will help you out. Pocket even has free templates for you to use. I am very happy with my layout now and I can't wait for more tutorials from Pocket. You all should check his site out!!!!

Boy, have I been busy today. First was doing the mouseover, then I made my own background in photoshop and now I just changed my picture in my header. I know it's no big deal for some of you that know how to do these things. But me I try things and I always think I can do them better and sometimes it works and other times well hopefully you won't see those lol. Well it took me awhile and I finally did it. I made a blinkie today. I really don't know anything about photo shop so I played around with it and I got some great information from google on how to make one (hopefully I can remember it hahahaha). I also have been playing around with some digital scrap booking and I have no ideal what I'm doing there either but I would really like to learn. I've been on Digifree search engine and they have some really beautiful scrap booking papers and elements such wonderful people to give out freebie's. I just wanted to show you all our home this Christmas.

Our Tree's

This tree is in our basement, look at how cute it is.

This is a new tree this year and when I seen it at Kohl's it was the last one and the sale's woman said I would have to come back on the weekend to buy it so my sister Karen went shopping and picked it up for me and she had to stand in a long line to get it . How Wonderful is she!!! And just to let you know my sister isn't a shopper she likes to get in and get out. Karen Thank You so much I just love my new tree.

This tree I made for my mother last year and it's in my downstairs bathroom I just didn't have time to take a new picture.

This tree I'm not crazy about I think I ran out of steam I still have a few more little berries to add to it but I wanted to show you how many trees I have up this year.

And now for a few of my favorite things!!!
Just something I made this year.

I got these from the junk store a few years ago and I just painted them and added fur.

I made him years ago and I made some for my family.
Another new tree this year. I don't know why I have this thing for trees.

And I just love these Santa's.

These were headed to the Salvation Army and all I did was add some white glue and some fake snow and I put them in the little buckets and now I just love them.

And just a few more trees.
My MIL gave me this skirt she used it under her tree and she didn't want it any more so I just cut the seam in the back and now I'm using it as a tree skirt I just didn't have the time to make a new one this year. Now I know when I go to the junk stores to look for skirts like these its a lot easier then making one and a lot cheaper.

And of course I love all the new things I found at the Salvation Army .

Well I 'm going to be so busy for the next few days (just like every one else)

New Christmas Decorations from the Salvation Army

I spent about a week cleaning out my attic with all the Christmas decorations I didn't want anymore and then what do I do, I go and buy more from the junk stores. In my defence the prices were just right and the things I bought are just too cute. My Charlie Brown tree.

I had the trees but the snowman is so cute!!!

I don't know if you can tell but I have this thing for Christmas trees.

This is one of my favorite trees and they had two but I only bought one (just shoot me now how stupid was that) only buying one treeI just love the colors on him!!!

I like the light in this little jar. You must admit that everything I bought was well worth it and I'm sure I'll have room to store them.

Christmas Clean Out 2008

Well it finally hit me after being up in my attic that I just have way to much Christmas stuff. I've been doing the day after Christmas shopping for at least 30 years now. It all started when I was dating my husband and every year my MIL and I would go shopping the day after Christmas and every year I would pick a new theme for our tree for the next year and that is why I just have way to much stuff. So for the last few years I've been putting bin's of Christmas things that I knew I would never use anymore to the back of the attic knowing that one day my girls would have at least something to decorate their homes at Christmas time. And this is the year that I decided it's time to have them look at everything I had put away. I know I had at least 13 bins and god only knows how many boxes and bags of Christmas decorations and ornaments and animated Snowmen and Santa's I had. So Emily and Haley and I took one load of Christmas decorations down from the attic and I had them look to see what they might want because everything else I'm donating to the Salvation Army. Here are just a few pictures of the first load we brought down from the attic.

We took two more trips up there and my husband made a trip up there and now I only have 26 bins of Christmas decorations and the girls each have 3 bins. I'm still missing a couple of cookie jars and a Precious Moments lighted Christmas tree my husband gave me years ago.
Isn't she pretty? When I put all my Christmas stuff away I'll have to look for her again. You know I feel so much better knowing that my ceiling isn't gonna cave in with all the Christmas stuff I had.

Our Trip To Downtown Detroit

I know I should have put these pictures on here sooner but I really haven't had the time. These are from when my sister Jane was here in the middle of October and she wanted to go see downtown Detroit. Jane lives in Florida and she couldn't ever remember going downtown so we went.

Just some places downtown.

Elmwood Cemetery.

In 1846 Elmwood had its first burial.
I think this is the most beautiful Cemetery I have ever been to. I know what your thinking why would I say that and how many Cemeteries have I been too. Well growing up my dad had joined the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and every Veterans Day we would go to the parade and then to the Cemeteries and put flags on the graves of the Veterans. You know I don't even know if they do that anymore. The trees in this cemetery are just beautiful.

My Sister Came Home For A Visit

I know it's been awhile since I have posted anything but there is a good reason my sister Jane came home for a visit and she stayed with me for a whole week, I wish it could have been longer but we had a wonderful time. Of course we went shopping almost everyday and Jane got some really great deals at Kohl's. Jane lives in Florida and Kohl's had all there summer stuff like 80 percent off she bought alot of cute things and I bought a few sweaters. Then we decided to go to Fankenmuth,

we spent about 3 hours in Bronner's and I only came home with a few things because I have so many ornaments already and I really didn't need the ones that I bought. You'll see those when its gets closer to Christmas. You can also check out the pictures I took at Bronner's here

Halloween Decorating

You know I use to love to decorate for Halloween. I would decorate the girls room the living room the kitchen even my bathroom and now I don't want to decorate at all. Well I guess I shouldn't say not at all, I like to decorate for the Holidays but with not so much stuff. I pulled some stuff out of the attic last night to start decorating for Halloween and seeing all my stuff was just a little to much for me. I have so much stuff for all the Holidays its not even funny. Last night I only brought down 1 bin and a big bag of things and it just looks like junk. Maybe it's my old age talking (I'm only 45) but I come to realize that my kids are old enough and that they really don't like Halloween so I don't need to have all my stuff out which is a good thing for me. I' ll show you the few things that I have made through the years.

This is a pumpkin topiary it didn't turn out that great.

This ghost is so old I should just throw him out and make another one.

And this is one of those good crafts gone bad!!! I should have just put the candy corn I made in a bowl instead of hanging it on this tree how stupid does this look. Back to the bowl you go!!!
And I can't believe that I'm even showing you all this, but I've seen in the stores all these pictures frames with Holidays things in them using the blanket stitch so I thought I could do that so my girlfriend Anna told me that they have how to do the stitches on youtube. And as you can tell my stitches suck!!! and then to top that off my MIL found me this plastic frame that I just painted, and you can see that it doesn't fit. So this is another craft that went bad!!!! Hopefully I will have better luck with my stitches and I can make something for Thanksgiving!!!

Well I guess thats enough of the craft gone wrong things (hahaha).

New Dress Form

I'm so happy!!!! I just love dress forms don't you? (my twin sister would say that I'm crazy ). I really like them, I guess it's because they are so girly. I've always wanted one, and my husband found me my first one Izabella. I planned on using Izabella for making me some jackets and tops but since I found a wedding dress for her I don't think I'll be sewing any clothes for me any time soon (hahaha). Here is my new dress form. I love the way she looks, old (but charming) I bought her from Marshall's Home Good store and they have about five or six different styles. She is two feet tall and 11 inches wide and the price I paid for her ($16.99) I didn't think that was a bad price for something so Beautiful!!!! I put a battery operated light in her and at night she just lights up my little table. I do need to paint the candle stick to match her. I can't wait to go back to Marshall's because they have a least 3 more forms that I would like to get. With this form I now have four forms and now my collection is growing (GO ME). Now of course I need to name her and it can't be a fancy name because shes not fancy and it can't be a name that sounds to old for her because she's young. So here we go.... Drum roll please... I would like to introduce you to...

New Craft

Well just let me say that this wasn't my ideal. My girlfriend Anna and I went to Michael's craft store to see what kind of trouble we could get in, and she got in a little more trouble than me and that's only because she spent more then I did. I really wasn't looking for anything but they had all these pumpkin's with flowers on them and some of them were really pretty but expensive. So I bought one pumpkin and one bunch of flowers it was under $8.00 dollars and this is what I made.

I just poked holes in it and ended up with this I still need to tone down the white on the pumpkin but other than that I think it turned out pretty good.

She wanted me to take her picture sorry about the red eyes.

Well I didn't have to pay a whole lot of money to make it and I think it looks cute on my little chair that I got a couple of weeks ago from a church sale (gotta love those church sale). Have a wonderful day.

Candy Corn

I was feeling a little crafty today so I decided to make some candy corn for the garland I want to make for my fireplace so here are just some that I finished. Sew easy to make I just used cream colored felt and I used a permanent marker for the orange and yellow part. How easy is that.

Can you believe it, I finally know how to do this right. (I know some of the stitches aren't all the same size but it's almost prefect). My girfriend Anna told me that youtube shows how to do this stitch and alot more. You should check them out.

Another Thrift Store Find!!!!

Well my girlfriend Anna came over yestersday because she was on my side of town and we decided to go to Value World (its a thrift store) and I didn't find anything until we went to pay for the things that she had gotten and I spotted this.

She was sitting behind the counter and I asked the woman how much was she and she said $6.88 can you believe that I thought she would have been more than that. She does have a few chips but other than that shes perfect.
For that price I just had to have her. So now I get to name her. I've come up with 3 names and I would like for you all to help me name her.

Doctors, Doctors, Doctors!!!!

I have not been feeling well for the last 2 weeks and I was to my thyroid Doctor on the 13Th of August just for a check up from the body scan I had done in May. Well my Doctor had upped my synthroid medicine in May but I didn't start taking them till July because I wanted to finish all my other medication. When I went to see her on the 13Th of August I ask her why she upped my med's and she looked in my file and said she doesn't know why she upped them. So I thought that she would find the reason and let me know. About 2 weeks ago I woke up in the morning with my heart just racing and it lasted for about 8 hours and I felt a little better, and that night I kept on waking up with my heart racing (very scary feeling) so my daughter had a Doctors appointment and I went with her because we have the same doctor and she took me in and did a EKG on me and she wanted me to have a stress test and a echo cardiogram and I did them on Friday so I'm waiting for the results on them. But my regular Doctor says that my synthroid levels are to high so I called my thyroid Doctor because she is the specialists. Now remember I had my blood drawn on the 13Th of August and I called them on the 25Th and again on the 26Th and I finally got an answer on the 27Th and they said that my levels are way to high(can you believe that) it took them that long to tell me my results and if it wasn't for my regular Doctor I would still be taking the wrong amount. Well I'm finally back to the 150 I use to take but this will last for 6 to 8 weeks until my other med's kick in. So needless to say that I'm not going back to my specialist. ( she doesn't know why she upped my medicine can you believe that). I could have had a heart attack and now I have to wait for weeks to feel better and I think that SUCKS!!!! I would like to make her feel the way I do. ( I know that's not very nice and I'm a very understanding person but this is the second time that I have had a hard time with getting my results in a timely manner and what if I would have had a heart attack ). I'm sorry for venting this all on you in blog land but believe me it help's. Thank you very much and let me know if you agree with me on getting another specialists.

Back To School

Well we had a wonderful summer and now Emily has to go back to college today. Emily attends EMU (Eastern Michigan University) and this is her second year. Band camp starts a week early which is a blessing because on moving in day, there is not that many people there. This is Emily all excited to move back in.

Haley went with Emily because the van was packed!!!I think they enjoy being together. If I would have thought about it I would have taken picture's of them unloading the van and the car. I can't believed all the stuff she took with her it's not like she can't come home we only live about an hour away. So this is her dorm room.Don't you just love the little monkey on the table she found him at a church sale last weekend. Emily is sharing this dorm room with 3 other girls. And this is where she will be sleeping.
and that's Jimmy, one of Emily's very best friend's. Well we got everything unpacked, and we said our goodbyes and so far I haven't gotten a call saying that she has forgot anything
( my baby is all grown up). We will be back to EMU next weekend for the band picnic and than again for the football games. I know this is a terrible thing to say but I only go to the games to watch her play. (I know I'm so bad) Football is just not my thing.
It is very hard to deal with your child packing everything up and moving away and last year it was a little rough on me but this year I think I'm gonna do better because as she is growing so am I.

Well I've been playing around all day with changing my colors and this color is staying for awhile. This used to be the color of my living room (sage green) well it's pretty close. Went To Visit Anna Today

Well we finally made it to Anna's today, my sister Karen and I and Haley. It's been awhile since we had a visit because Anna's not been feeling well and with so many Dr's appointments between the 3 of us it was hard to plan anything sooner. Well Haley and Felicia , Anna's daughter had a good time in the pool and the 3 of us went to the neighbor's garage sale, and of course I found some great things. Anna did put a couple of her things in the sale and as always I buy her things (she has such great taste and style). I spent a whole $16.00 and this is all the stuff I came home with.

This bread box was Anna's and my husband has been wanting one of these, I really like the rooster but I'm gonna paint it cottage white of course.
And I bought this little bird house, how cute is this?

This tree was also Anna's I love the little tin stars on it.

I bought this magnetic tin holder for pins (or whatever I want to put in them) And these 2 big fabric covered boxes, I'm really not a blue person but I really like that box.

I also bought this big bag of scrap fabric . One of the ladies there makes quilts and you can see her beautiful work here she made Anna that quilt what a special neighbor and friend. There are a lot of great fabric scraps in here and I can't wait to get started on a new project.
and I bought a few things for my sister but I don't have them here to take any pictures and I also bought the clear sleeve holders to put some of my patterns in and a little pair of scissors that are great for trimming threads. And if you have time please stop by Anna's

More Things From My MIL

You know I can tell my MIL that I'm looking for something and the next time that I see her, she has one for me. We go to the thrift stores together church sales, estate sales we love to go junk in' and awhile ago she went to a couple of sales with her friend Joyce and this is what she found for me.

I love this basket that she found for me and she even found me two tables.

This one is for the deck but I have to paint it first.

This one I wanted to put in my living room but Haley needed a little table in her room.
and she found this nice sewing book can't wait to make the Rosettes.

And then she gave me this bench that she has had for at least 30 years. I told her yesterday that I have always wanted that bench and she's like your kidding, she would have given it to me sooner if she had known that.

I can't wait to paint it, what color (cottage white of course)hahaha.
Haley and I spent the whole day and half of the evening with Grandma yesterday and this is what she had for me.

a little metal purse, isn't it just too cute!!! I love it!!! (she knows me so well) I can't wait to add ribbons and maybe some rhinestones. It needs something special don't you think? And before we left she gave me all her cake decorating supplies because she doesn't want to do that anymore, I remember her taking those cake decorating classes in 1983 (boy that makes me feel old 1983). I'm telling you I never leave that house empty handed every time I go there she always has something for me. I'm always bringing home a bag of this and a bag of that. Grandma's house was full to the rafters now its my house that is getting full. Grandma's rule is, that if she gives you something she never wants it back and if she gives you something you don't like then get rid of it(she cracks me up). Here are all the cake decorating supplies that she gave me. Look at all that fun stuff. Me and the girls are gonna be making a lot of cakes( and probably adding on a few pounds too) What a MIL always giving or finding me that one little special thing. What a wonderful lady.

Well I went to my mother in laws and decided to snap a few pictures of all her wonderful things. I will have to do this in sections because she has so many collections and this one I'm starting with are just her Pins and Broaches. I don't know how many she has but I know this isn't all of them. I do believe that she wears a differnt pin everyday.

Show Me Your Form

I'm so excited to participate in this wonderful event I'm looking forward to seeing all the beautiful dress forms out there. I have posted about my dress form before (Izabella) and that my husband found her for me at a tag sale for only $30.00. Vince bought it for me because he knew that I had been wanting one so I could start sewing clothes he didn't even know that she was adjustable and that she was my size. My girls and I call her my husbands girlfriend and I named her Izabella.

I know some things should be left vintage but Izabella told me that she wanted to be young and pretty so I decided to send her to my spa to freshen her up.I gave her a body lift.

She spent 3 days there and she came back looking like this.

Izabella said she feels like she's 18 again and I think my spa did wonders for her she's Beautiful!!! I've been wanting to make her a dress you can read about it here. The Dress!!!

Call me crazy for buying her a wedding dress but she just had to have it!! I was a little worried about my husband seeing this dress because wedding dresses cost a lot of money and I did get this from the thrift store and he knows I buy things to take apart to make other things and this is what he said, are you gonna take it apart to make something else and I said I don't know yet and he said that I shouldn't because she looks very pretty in that dress (can you believe that a man would say that) so now Izabella has been standing in our living room all week with her wedding dress on he thinks I should leave her there.(what a guy) When I get my craft room back into shape that's were she is going.
I also have another little dress form my husband bought me

I named her Lilly and I use her to show off the little bonnets I make.

This one I found at the thrift store.

I named her Ellie and I want to replace her fabric too.
This one is the best dress form EVER!!!! Her name is Emily.

we aren't done with her yet I need to find a stand for her hopefully we will have her done soon. Well I hope you all enjoyed my dress forms and now I'm off to see all of yours.
